In India, Raksha Bandhan is a festival which is celebrated nationwide. While it may go by different names like Raksha Bandhan, Rakhi, Rahki Purnima or Rahkri, it is celebrated to mark the bond between a brother and a sister.
On Rakhi, a sister ties a ‘rakhi’ around her brother’s wrist with love and prayers for his well-being and the brother vows to protect his sister all his life.
While every year I look forward for gifts i receive from my brothers, i thought why not do something for my brother this Rakhi? So i made this Handmade decoupage nameplates.

The back-to-school season is upon us. School bells are beginning to ring all around. My nephew will transit from preschool to primary school this year. Shifting to primary school not only involves the child, but requires the whole family to make adjustments and adapt to change. The family’s contribution to socialising their child for primary school is important.
To ensure that our child have a smooth transition from summertime to school time, preschool to primary school I made a fun card to encourage him. I m not much into card making ..tried it for first time and see how beautiful it turned out :-)

Practice definitely makes progress, As I was looking for a brush beginner pen set, I came across these awesome free brush lettering practice sheets. I suggest printing these and trying to do them once a day until you are comfortable with using pressure to create the calligraphic lettering style.

Rangoli is an art form from India in which patterns are created on the floor in living rooms or courtyards using materials such as coloured rice, dry flour, coloured sand or flower petals. It is usually made during Diwali, Onam, Pongal and other Indian festivals.
The purpose of rangoli is decoration, and it is thought to bring good luck. Design depictions may also vary as they reflect traditions, folklore and practices that are unique to each area. Rangoli designs can be simple geometric shapes, deity impressions, or flower and petal shapes.
There are different types of rangoli varying based on different material used to draw rangoli.
Dotted Rangoli: Dotted Rangoli means the design which is made by making dots in equal lines and equal numbers in different shapes like square,circular,star. Later it is filled with beautiful colours and get a traditional design mostly made in south India.
Free Hand Rangoli: This is one of the most common and famous form of Rangoli which can be seen in every home in every occasion made by the help of different colours of sand. Its also known as ever green form of Rangoli.
Flower Rangoli: The modern form of Rangoli which is made by the beautiful petals of flowers at the front door of house. Flower Petals Rangoli is very eye pleasing along with beautiful fragrance of flowers like roses ,marigolds and lotus. During the festival of Onam in Kerala, its the one of the major attraction of festival known as Onam Pookalam.
Sanskar-Bharati Rangoli: It is known as sanskar Rangoli due to its design and patterns, which contains many circles and each circle represents different Sanskar of our life.
Floating Rangoli: The modern and youngest form of in which diyas, flower,candles float on the water of bowels. Even now water colours are also used and its look very beautiful.

Wooden Rangoli: This pattern of Rangoli is come with the fixed set of things like, flower,birds leaf etc, which can be arranged at the wall or floor.
Glass Rangoli: Glass rangoli is not as much as popular but during the no time one can use the ready-made painted glasses in different shape and size which are then decorated with kundan to make a quick rangoli.
Portrait Rangoli: It takes lots of effort and accuracy, time and patience to make portrait rangoli. The beauty of this rangoli cannot be neglected. People often select their idols or Lords or goddesses for porttraiting.

There are many regions of India where mod podge is still not available. I have struggled in the beginning for searching mod podge, so i know the pain. i remember a experience when i was searching for mod podge in local market near me, i found it but it had different packaging but the same name, so i asked the shopkeeper, n he said, "Mam Yaha koi nahi kharidata, aap jaise ek aadh aa jate hai islie hum ye indian wala rakhte hai." Seriously!! I thought. but i buyed to give it a try, but it was hopeless. And hence i decided, i need to make my own Mod Podge.
After a lot of research on the internet, and from some childhood memories,(i used to see the show called ArtAttack on Pogo, i don't remember exactly but the host of show used to use this recipe for his projects.) here’s what I tried and tested.
Do it yourself Mod Podge
Get Fevicol MR.
Mix equal parts of water to it
Stir well until the glue and water form a homogeneous mixture
Use it the way you would use Mod Podge and let it dry.
Apply few layers of clear varnish to protect your work since this cannot provide the same kind of sealant properties Mod Podge can.
This DIY did work. However, Mod Podge also has a sealer formula that don't exist in craft glues. And that is why it lasts longer and is more durable on projects. This is only a substandard alternative to Mod Podge when it is unavailable near you..
